Though presented by its producer as a viewer for photos taken with Nikon digital cameras, ViewNX is much more than just that. It is a complex image management application that also allows editing, converting, correcting, transferring and sharing the pictures.
I especially like the fact that it includes a large variety of advanced image editing functions. ViewNX lets you easily resize, crop or rotate images, as well as adjust their colors or other parameters such as the brightness level, the exposure compensation level or the white balance. It also allows converting between image file formats, including from RAW NEF files to JPEG or TIFF. Batch converting or resizing multiple photos at once is also possible. There’s also a handy geotagging option that lets you easily add GPS coordinates to image files. Despite the fact that these are just a few of the many features that this tool provides, it still manages to offer a neat and intuitive interface. Browsing, viewing, editing or converting the photos can be done with ease due to this clear interface, regardless of whether the user is a professional or a novice.
Since it is actually a Nikon product, ViewNX includes the Nikon Transfer utility which allows the easy transfer of photos between Nikon cameras and the computer.
